Travel back in time with us to visit Langston Hughes's Mexico & Cuba, LIVE at Brooklyn Artery! Did you know he was a prolific translator of Spanish? He famously translated Afro-Cuban poet Nicolas Guillen (in black vernacular) and Spaniard poet Federico Garcia Lorca's Gypsy Ballads. But did you know he also translated fiction from Mexico & Cuba? NO? Neither did we! Ricardo Wilson II collects these translations from Hughs in Troubled Lands.
Ricardo will be in conversation with the amazing @kylecarrerolopez whose forthcoming collection PARTY LINE (from @graywolfpress) is one of the most anticipated poetry collections in recent memory.
Ciara Warner will lead us in a channeled reading of Hughes before Ricardo discusses his process of curating and editing this collection.
