Canadian vocalist Kari van der Kloot presents an exciting new voice on the horizon. Living somewhere in the space between jazz and folk, Kari’s compositions fit seamlessly into a tradition of great Canadian singer-songwriters, such as Joni Mitchell, while still honoring her roots in jazz music. The current iteration of the Kari van der Kloot Quintet features Kari's ethereal vocals floating over an earthy foundation of flutes and deep rhythm section playing. The music keeps the listeners on their toes, from full-on intricately arranged ensemble playing, to four-part vocal harmonies and intimate dialogues between the voice and flute. Kari’s debut album “Seedling” was released in 2016, and her second album “The Architects” was released to great acclaim in 2020 on Outside In Music’s Next Level imprint. In 2024, Kari released a new album, “Window” on TPR Records.

For the past decade, flutist, composer and bandleader Elsa Nilsson has explored unlikely connections among tendencies of human nature, contradiction and pluralism and the natural world. A conceptualist from every angle, the Gothenburg native left Sweden for Seattle in 2005 before settling in Brooklyn in 2010. Her breadth of work engages urgency, high-level improvising and layered, cinematic orchestration; her artistry, an earnest and actionable desire to collaborate with multi-modal artists and the changing world around her. Elsa's releases as a leader include "Quila Quinta" (2024), "Pulses" (with Band of Pulses, 2023), "Atlas of Sound- Coast Redwoods" (2022), "Dark Is Light" (2021), "Hindsight" (2020), "After Us" (2018) and "Salt Wind" (2017).
