It’s clothing swap time again at the Backspace! We’re always so excited for this event which gives folks in our community a chance to offload clean, wearable clothes they no longer need and find new treasures, all for free, while preventing textile waste and unnecessary spending — everybody wins! So start cleaning out your closets, AND read on for all the details below…
Clothing drop-off at the Artery (during store hours): May 11th - 18th — **timed entry swap tickets also distributed during drop-off (more below)**
Volunteer sorting & setup days: May 18th - 29th — email info@brooklynartery.com if you’re interested in volunteering!
SWAP DAY!: Sunday, May 31st
Accepted items: clean, stain-free and hair-free clothing, shoes, hats, outerwear & bags in good condition (all ages / genders / seasons)
**How the Swap Works: Timed Entry Tickets**
We’re thrilled that this swap has gained so much traction over the past few years that it needs a bit of structure to run smoothly for everyone! So, to keep the experience chill and ensure everyone has room to browse, we’re using timed tickets for our swap day on May 31st (11am – 6pm).
Dropping off clothes? When you drop off your items earlier in the month, you’ll get to pick a specific time slot to come back and "shop" on swap day – May 31st.
Nothing to drop off? Folks who don’t drop items off are still welcome to come shop on the 31st — though we encourage everyone to find closet items that need new homes! Just head to the door anytime on May 31st to grab an available timed ticket.
This way everyone will get a chance to come in and have a chill time browsing. And we promise, treasures are available ALL day long. In fact, it’s often easier to find gems after the initial rush! We can’t wait to see everyone find new goodies :)
